After the devastating fire that severely damaged the famed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris back in 2019, the country of France worked tirelessly to repair the iconic cathedral. In 2025, Yo-Yo Ma performed the Prelude to the Bach Cello Suite #1 at the re-opening ceremony at the Notre Dame cathedral.

7-Year-Old Cellist Prodigy Yo-Yo Ma's Debut Performance for President JFK

This is an amazing video of a very young 7-year-old Yo-Yo Ma playing along with his older sister in a televised performance for President Kennedy. He is introduced by the renowned composer, conductor, and pianist Leonard Bernstein.

Up Close Withe A Curator: Octobasse

We are fortunate to have the Musical Instrument Museum here in the metro Phoenix area. If you have not already visited this museum, I highly recommend reserving a half-day or more to visit it. Their collection and presentations are absolutely amazing! The octobasse is my personal favorite!

Cello Wars (Star Wars Parody) Lightsaber Duel - The Piano Guys

The Piano Guys are a creative cello and piano duet. Their YouTube videos are extraordinary and often filmed in exotic locations. Their arrangments often combine classical music with contemporary music in a mash-up style. I share this video because it was the first introduction that I had to The Piano Guys in 2011. I have been a fan ever since and have seen them perform live too. Check out their channel and explore more videos.

Lindsey Stirling - Master of Tides

Lindsey Stirling is another musical artist that I was introduced to around 2011. She combines original arrangements of contemporary music with amazing dance and costumes. She is exciting to watch and has brought countless new students to discover the joy of playing the violin and other string instruments. As an added bonus she grew up in the metro Phoenix area and will often visit her on her many concert tours. Keep an eye out for her next concert.
